As more opportunities become available to your practice — whether it be physician referrals, third-party payers, or online sources — it is necessary to create a balanced and optimized schedule that allows you to provide exceptional patient care and exceed your business goals. Without creating a balanced schedule, you could start seeing decreases in revenue, patient satisfaction, and team morale.
Global Hearing Aid Clinic implemented a block-scheduling program that allowed them to increase hearing revenue by 25%.
What is Block Scheduling?
With this type of schedule, each day is divided up into blocks, with each block reserved for a specific type of activity. With your practice’s goals as a compass, you organize the blocks to prioritize revenue-generating activities and other practice priorities.
For example, if your provider has three 90-minute periods in their weekly schedule blocked out for hearing aid evaluations (HAEs), their schedule won’t get bogged down in free clean and checks, follow-ups, and fittings.
Focus on Private-Pay Appointments
The office staff focuses on booking private-pay appointments. Additionally, they do account for third-party appointments who walk into the clinic.
To ensure we block enough time and are providing the best patient care, they use the Patients for Life® (PFL) process. Additionally, they have focused on using digital marketing to reach new private-pay patients within their market.
